The University of Pennsylvania's baseball team has begun receiving postseason accolades, with senior Wyatt Henseler being named to the First-team All-East Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). This announcement was made on Tuesday morning.
The selection for this team is conducted by ABCA members and overseen by the ABCA NCAA Division I All-America and Coach of the Year Committee. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I All-America teams are set to be revealed on June 14, ahead of the Men's College World Series in Omaha. With his first-team All-Region recognition, Henseler is now eligible for All-America honors.
Henseler, who was unanimously chosen as the Ivy League Player of the Year and a first-team All-Ivy selection for 2024, delivered an impressive performance during his final season with Penn. As co-captain, he played a crucial role in leading the Quakers to their second consecutive Ivy League Tournament title and an NCAA Regional appearance. He earned the title of Most Outstanding Player of the Ivy League Tournament after achieving a .375 batting average with three home runs and 10 RBIs over five games.
Throughout 49 games, Henseler led his team in several categories: batting average (.360), runs (64), hits (72), home runs (22), RBIs (56), total bases (151), slugging percentage (.755), hit-by-pitches (14), and on-base percentage (.465). In Ivy League play, he topped the conference in batting average (.438), slugging percentage (.913), on-base percentage (.566), OPS (1.479), runs (31), and home runs (10).
Henseler concluded his remarkable career at Penn as the program's all-time leader in hits (232), runs scored (64), doubles (50), total bases (452), home runs (54), and RBIs (189). He also holds Ivy League records for home runs, RBIs, and total bases. Additionally, he set Penn single-season records for at-bats in 2023 with 215; hits in both 2022 and 2024 with 72; home runs in 2024 with 22; runs scored in 2024 with 64; total bases in 2023 with 151; and RBIs in 2023 with 63.
This marks Henseler's second time earning first-team ABCA All-Region honors after previously receiving them in 2022 when he was subsequently named a third-team ABCA All-American.
