The University of Pennsylvania baseball team overcame a loss to Cornell earlier in the day to defeat Princeton 9-4, advancing to the championship round of the Ivy League Tournament. The Quakers, with a record of 22-23, officially eliminated the Tigers (18-26) at Yogi Berra Stadium and will face Cornell (17-19) again on Monday.

"Penn will need a win to stay alive and force a decisive Game 7 for the Ivy League title and a berth into the NCAA Regional," according to their statement.

Nick Spaventa was instrumental in Penn's success, driving in five of their 13 runs across two games and achieving a .444 batting average. Gavin Collins also contributed significantly with his .444 performance and two runs scored.

In Game 1 against Cornell, Wyatt Henseler tied an Ivy League single-season home run record with his 21st homer. However, Penn fell short as Will Tobin allowed a game-winning grand slam in the seventh inning, resulting in a 7-6 defeat.

In the nightcap against Princeton, Spaventa's three hits included a crucial two-run homer that gave Penn a lead they maintained until the end. Danny Heintz earned his first win of the season after pitching a scoreless inning of relief.

Henseler extended his reached-base streak to 30 games while Davis Baker continued his hitting streak to 12 consecutive games. Ryan Taylor joined teammates Spaventa, Henseler, and Baker by reaching the 50-hit milestone for the season.

Monday's match against Cornell is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., with Game 7 taking place if necessary. Both games will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
