Quaker Meeting House (QMH) reflects on the significance of each point in track and field competitions. A memorable event took place at Princeton's Weaver Stadium, where senior Aliya Garozzo secured a victory for Penn's women's team in the 4x400 relay, overtaking Princeton's Lauren Harris to clinch the Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championship.
"The camera angle does not do justice to Garozzo's final 200," QMH remarked, highlighting her impressive performance. The win was crucial as Penn finished with 184.5 points, narrowly surpassing Princeton's 184.0.
In another instance, during the women's pole vault event, Penn's Meghan Hart tied for sixth place with Dartmouth’s Maya Grudman due to their first-attempt clearances at 12 feet 8.25 inches, earning their teams half a point each. Princeton’s SJ Cohen needed two attempts and did not score.
The women’s track team has consistently delivered thrilling finishes, reminiscent of their Indoor Heps victory earlier this year. Despite Harvard’s Maia Ramsden being named Outstanding Women's Track Performer at Heps, QMH felt Garozzo deserved recognition for her achievements.
