PHILADELPHIA – Wyatt Henseler, a senior third baseman for the University of Pennsylvania baseball team, has been named Penn Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Acme. This recognition follows a notable performance over the weekend against Harvard in Cambridge.
Henseler's contribution was significant as he led his team to a crucial series victory. He achieved a batting average of .556 (5-for-9), hitting three home runs, a double, and securing five walks and four RBIs. On Saturday, Henseler hit two home runs—the 49th and 50th of his career—and added an RBI double to secure the Quakers' win. The following day, he set Penn's single-season record for home runs for the third consecutive year with his 19th homer during the fifth inning.
Currently, Henseler is one double away from breaking the all-time program record and three home runs short of surpassing the Ivy League's single-season record of 22.
In addition to this accolade, Henseler received the Class of 1915 Award at Wednesday's Quaker Choice Awards. This award is given annually since 1931 to the male student-athlete who best represents the spirit and tradition of University of Pennsylvania Athletics.
The list of previous recipients for Penn Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week includes Maeve Stiles from women's cross country in week one and Izzy Rohr from women's lacrosse in week thirty-two.
