The University of Pennsylvania's Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA) held its annual "Quakers Choice Awards" banquet on May 1, where senior student-athletes were recognized for their achievements. Five major awards were presented during the event.
Wyatt Henseler, a baseball player from Emmaus, Pennsylvania, received the Class of 1915 Award. This award is given to a male student-athlete who exemplifies the spirit and tradition of Penn Athletics, with criteria including athletic excellence, academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and leadership qualities. Voting for this award is conducted by head coaches from Penn's varsity men's programs.
The Association of Alumnae Fathers' Trophy was awarded to two female athletes: Niki Miles from women's lacrosse and Isabella Whittaker from women's track & field. The trophy recognizes significant contributions to women's athletics at Penn, requiring recipients to demonstrate outstanding athleticism, academics with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and leadership. Coaches from Penn's varsity women's programs vote on this honor.
Additionally, James Shipley from men's lacrosse received the Norman J. Goldring Prize as the graduating male student-athlete with the highest GPA who earned a varsity letter in his senior year. Eve Chiarello from women's rowing won both the female Goldring Prize and the George H. Frazier Prize for having the highest GPA among graduating student-athletes in specific sports categories.
