The University of Pennsylvania baseball team is set to face Villanova in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon at the Villanova Ballpark in Plymouth Meeting. This game marks the conclusion of Penn's seven-game road trip, following their recent Ivy series victory against Yale.

With only three non-conference games left this season, Penn holds an 8-10 record in such matchups. The Quakers recently defeated Villanova and Lehigh but faced a canceled game against Saint Joseph's due to bad weather.

Penn's Wyatt Henseler is approaching significant milestones, having tied the Ivy League's all-time RBI record with 164 and being close to joining the 200-hit club. Henseler also leads the league with 13 home runs and a slugging percentage of .781.

The Quakers maintain a batting average of .288, leading the Ivy League. Davis Baker (.339), Nick Spaventa (.337), Ryan Taylor (.333), and Henseler (.324) are among those hitting above .300.

On the mound, Penn's pitching staff ranks second in the Ivy League with a 6.93 ERA. Relievers Carson Ozmer and Eli Trop have been reliable, contributing significantly to Penn's saves this season.

Villanova enters Wednesday's game on a seven-game losing streak, struggling particularly in Big East play. Dylan Dennis and Jack O'Reilly lead their offense, while Jake Francis heads their pitching staff with a 3.04 ERA.

Penn aims for its fourth consecutive win over Villanova, hoping to sweep the season series again after last year's success. The historical series between these teams dates back to 1905, with Villanova holding a slight edge overall.
