The Flyers demonstrated a strong defensive performance against the Edmonton Oilers, blocking 21 shots compared to Edmonton's nine. These blocks were distributed among 12 Flyers players, with Matvei Michkov making the first block just over a minute into the game. Michkov, who scored two goals during the match, is adapting well to the Flyers' style of play.

Jett Luchanko was tasked with defending Connor McDavid and succeeded in holding him without a shot on goal until late in the third period. "Luchanko didn’t back down from the assignment all night long," showcasing his defensive skills by intercepting an Edmonton breakout attempt.

Scott Laughton illustrated how small efforts can lead to significant opportunities. A simple tap of the puck in the neutral zone resulted in multiple scoring chances for himself and his teammates. "Sometimes it doesn’t take a fancy sweeping defensive play – sometimes it takes just one tap," highlighting how minor actions can impact a game.
