The Philadelphia Flyers faced a challenging game against the Calgary Flames on Saturday night, resulting in a 6-3 loss at Scotiabank Saddledome. Despite a strong start, the Flyers found themselves struggling to keep up with the Flames.

Travis Konecny contributed significantly for Philadelphia, scoring both shorthanded and power play goals. Joel Farabee also added to the scoreline for the Flyers.

For Calgary, Jonathan Huberdeau had an impressive performance with two goals and two assists. Nazem Kadri scored twice, while Andrei Kuzmenko provided three assists. Mikael Backlund and Mackenzie Weegar also scored for Calgary.

Huberdeau opened the scoring with his second goal of the season at 5:37 of the first period, assisted by Martin Pospisil and Anthony Mantha. A power play goal by Weegar extended Calgary's lead shortly after.

Philadelphia narrowed the gap when Konecny and Scott Laughton executed a successful penalty kill collaboration early in the second period. However, Kadri restored Calgary's two-goal lead with a power play goal later in that period.

Farabee brought Philadelphia closer with a goal before the end of the second period, assisted by Bobby Brink and Sean Couturier.

In the third period, Backlund scored from a counterattack following Travis Sanheim's blocked shot attempt. Huberdeau added another goal shortly after to solidify Calgary's lead.

Konecny scored again for Philadelphia during a power play late in the game but it wasn't enough to turn things around as Kadri secured an empty-netter to finalize Calgary’s victory.

Ivan Fedotov stopped 27 out of 32 shots for Philadelphia while Dustin Wolf made 37 saves out of 40 attempts from Philly players. The Flyers managed one power-play goal out of four opportunities but struggled on penalty kills going three-for-five despite Konecny’s shorthanded effort being their highlight moment.

Noah Cates played his second game this season replacing Jett Luchanko who remained undressed throughout this matchup.
