The Philadelphia Flyers are set to face the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Alberta on Saturday night. Both teams have started their season with a win, and this game marks the first of two meetings between them for the 2024-25 NHL season.

The Flyers, under head coach John Tortorella, began their campaign with a shootout victory over the Vancouver Canucks. Tyson Foerster and Cam York scored during regulation time, while Morgan Frost secured the win in the shootout's fifth round.

The back-to-back games this weekend are part of a compact schedule due to February's Four Nations tournament. The Flyers will experience 12 back-to-backs this season, including four consecutive road games. Ivan Fedotov is expected to start as goaltender for Philadelphia against Calgary following Samuel Ersson's performance against Vancouver.

Emil Andrae has been recalled from the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms due to Nick Seeler's injury. Andrae is known for his offensive skills and played a significant role on the Phantoms' power play last season.

Philadelphia aims to maintain strong special teams performance after successfully killing all penalties in their opener against Vancouver. The power play unit also showed promise by scoring once in four opportunities.

Calgary enters Saturday’s game after an overtime win against Vancouver earlier this week. Connor Zary scored the decisive goal for Calgary, with contributions from Anthony Mantha, Rasmus Andersson, Martin Pospisil, and Nazem Kadri.
