The Philadelphia Flyers are set to commence their 2024-25 regular season with a game against the Vancouver Canucks in British Columbia. The match will take place at Rogers Arena, starting at 10:00 p.m. EDT, and will be broadcast on NBCSP and 93.3 WMMR.

This game marks the beginning of a four-game road trip for the Flyers, who will face the Calgary Flames next. Among the key highlights is Matvei Michkov's NHL debut. The nineteen-year-old Russian forward, known for his offensive skills, was selected in the first round of the 2023 draft. He impressed during preseason games and is expected to play alongside Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny.

Another player making his debut is Jett Luchanko, who could become the youngest player in Flyers history to play an NHL game. Selected in this year's draft, Luchanko brings speed and defensive maturity to the team.

Flyers defenseman Nick Seeler remains day-to-day due to a lower-body injury from a preseason game. If unavailable, Erik Johnson might fill in as he approaches his 1,000th career game milestone.

Improving their power play is crucial for the Flyers after struggling in recent seasons. New additions like Michkov and Jamie Drysdale aim to enhance performance under coach Rocky Thompson's guidance.

The Vancouver Canucks enter this matchup with an offensively strong lineup but are dealing with goaltending issues due to Thatcher Demko's injury. They started their season with an overtime loss against Calgary.
