The University of Pennsylvania baseball team is set to face Lafayette on Tuesday at the Tommy Lasorda Field at Meiklejohn Stadium in Philadelphia, engaging in the consolation semifinal round of the Liberty Bell Classic. Both teams are hoping to improve their records following recent losses.

Penn heads into the match after a 14-10 defeat to Saint Joseph's and dropping two out of three games against Dartmouth. The Quakers, holding a 9-12 overall record and a 4-2 record in Ivy League play, aim to advance past the first-round matchup of the Liberty Bell Classic, having not reached the semifinals since 2016.

Lafayette, which stands at 6-22 overall and 3-5 in the Patriot League, recently fell to Delaware 13-9 in the Liberty Bell Classic. They had a recent series split with rival Lehigh. This contest marks the second meeting between Penn and Lafayette this season, with Penn having previously secured three victories in Easton.

Davis Baker shines for the Quakers, boasting a .368 batting average last week with seven extra-base hits, including six doubles and a home run. His teammate, Gavin Collins, leads the team's batting average at .329. Meanwhile, Will Tobin, another key player for Penn, earned recognition as D-1 College Pitcher of the Week after a strong performance against Dartmouth.

Lafayette's Easton Brenner leads his team with a batting average of .356, mashing three homers with 20 RBIs. Joe Skapinetz leads the Leopards with 43 strikeouts in 35.1 innings. Both teams will aim to leverage their strengths to secure a win on Tuesday. The game will be available for viewing on ESPN+ with live commentary provided by Cory Nidoh.
