The Philadelphia Flyers have confirmed the signing of Karsen Dorwart to a two-year entry-level contract. The announcement was made by General Manager Daniel Briere. Dorwart, aged 22, will join the Flyers for the remainder of the season.
Dorwart, an undrafted player and native of Sherwood, Oregon, recently concluded his third season with Michigan State. His performance this season includes playing 35 games, achieving 13 goals, and totaling 31 points. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 195 pounds, Dorwart ranked second on his team in points and shared the lead for power play goals. While leading the Spartans to a Big 10 Championship, he contributed a goal and an assist in the deciding match. Unfortunately, the team was eliminated by Cornell in the first round of the NCAA tournament with Dorwart scoring a goal and assisting in the game.
Throughout his tenure at Michigan State, Dorwart registered a total of 38 goals, 54 assists, amounting to 92 points over 111 games. He served as an alternate captain during his sophomore year. In his freshman year, Dorwart was voted rookie of the year and nominated for the Tim Taylor National Rookie of the Year Watchlist.
Before joining Michigan State, Dorwart played for the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL and spent two years at Hotchkiss School, maintaining a point per game average. Additionally, he began his hockey journey with the San Jose Junior Sharks, participating in USA Hockey National Championships in 2018 and 2019.
