Top MLB prospects prepare for opening day across major and minor leagues

The 2025 Opening Day prospect roster announcements have begun, with notable placements among the Top 100 prospects. The Cubs have confirmed that Matt Shaw (MLB No. 19) will participate in the Tokyo Series, while Roki Sasaki (No. 1) also received confirmation of his assignment.

Top prospects Dylan Crews (No. 4), Jackson Jobe (No. 5), and Kristian Campbell (No. 7) are among ten players from the Top 100 list set to join major league clubhouses on Thursday.

Cam Smith (No. 58) is another player making headlines by becoming the third-quickest hitter to secure an Opening Day roster spot after being drafted, surpassing Wyatt Langford's previous record.

As for the Minor League season, which begins on March 28 with Triple-A games, Roman Anthony (No. 2), Jordan Lawlar (No. 11), Marcelo Mayer (No. 12), Samuel Basallo (No. 13), Coby Mayo (No. 14), and Bubba Chandler (No. 15) are some of the top prospects starting at Triple-A level.

Double-A, High-A, and Single-A seasons commence on April 4, with several players beginning their seasons on either the Injured List or in extended spring training.
