Philadelphia Union II is set to face off against New York Red Bulls II for their 2025 home opener at Subaru Park on Monday night. The match follows Union II's season opener against New England Revolution II, where they earned a road point. Goalkeeper Andrew Rick was notable for his performance, achieving a clean sheet and saving two penalty kicks, although the team ultimately lost in penalties with a 4-3 scoreline.

Union II will see changes in their lineup due to U.S. National Team call-ups for Frankie Westfield and Kellan LeBlanc. This could lead to the debut of defenders Rafael Uzcátegui and Ramzi Qawasmy in the upcoming game against Red Bulls II.

The previous season saw Union II and Red Bulls II splitting their three-game series, with Union II securing an additional point through a shootout win. During that span, Union II achieved a 4-2 shootout victory followed by a commanding 5-1 win on the road with goals from Markus Anderson and David Vazquez. Red Bulls II managed to end the series with a 4-1 away victory.

Red Bulls II started their current season positively with a narrow 1-0 victory over Atlanta United 2, thanks to Andy Rojas scoring in the 51st minute.
