Philadelphia Union II has announced the extension of Giovanny Sequera's loan from Metropolitanos FC, allowing the midfielder to remain with the team through the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season. The Venezuelan player will join Union II's active roster once his International Transfer Certificate is obtained.
Head Coach Ryan Richter expressed satisfaction with Sequera's progress, stating, "Giovanny has worked hard to adjust to our style of play, and his dedication has made him an important part of our squad. We’re excited to see how he continues to develop this season and look forward to watching him take the next step in his career."
Sequera was first acquired by Union II on loan on March 11, 2024. During that year, he made 16 appearances, providing two assists over 650 minutes and participating in two playoff matches including the MLS NEXT Pro Cup. His debut in MLS NEXT Pro occurred on March 17, 2024, against Toronto FC II.
On an international level, Sequera has played for Venezuela’s U17 and U20 teams and received a call-up to the senior national team in September 2024 for World Cup Qualifiers.
