Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov has been named the National Hockey League's Rookie of the Month for February. Michkov led all rookies with five goals and ten points in seven games during the month.
Michkov, who was selected seventh overall in the 2023 NHL Draft, has played in 58 games this season. He currently shares the rookie lead in points with 44 and leads in goals with 19. Additionally, he tops all first-year players in power play goals (7), overtime goals (3), and multi-point games (14). He ranks third among rookies for shots on net with 131 and fourth in points per game at 0.76.
This achievement marks Michkov as the first rookie of the 2024-25 season to earn Rookie of the Month honors twice. It also makes him the only Flyers rookie to receive this recognition twice in the last three decades. Michkov previously earned this accolade in October when he led all rookies with four goals and tied for the points lead with nine.
Michkov joins other winners from this season: San Jose Sharks center Macklin Celebrini, who was recognized in November; Lane Hutson, honored in December; and Dustin Wolf, awarded for January.
