In Harrisburg, a hearing and press conference were held to address the Biden Administration's halt on liquified natural gas (LNG) exports. The event was organized by Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia) and the House Republican Policy Committee, chaired by Josh Kail (R-Beaver/Washington). The focus was on the increasing demand for LNG and the consequences of stopping new exportation.

The hearing, titled “Fueling Pennsylvania’s Future: Liquid Natural Gas,” included testimonies from Carl Marrara, executive director of the Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association; John Bane, director of government affairs at EQT Corporation; and Rob Bair, president of the Pennsylvania Building and Construction Trades Council.

Pennsylvania ranks as the second largest producer of natural gas in the United States, behind Texas. Globally, LNG demand is rising due to its positive environmental impact. An economic report by the Pennsylvania Manufacturers’ Association noted that 500 million tons of CO2 emissions have been reduced since 2010 through natural gas use. The state's LNG industry is expected to boost the economy by creating jobs and enhancing manufacturing while ensuring energy affordability and reliability.

Rep. Martina White stated, “Pennsylvania is on a direct path for an electricity crisis. PJM is sounding an alarm. This not a partisan issue; it’s an issue for all. Pennsylvania has an abundance of natural gas. Let’s meet the growing energy demand and put Pennsylvania to work for our state, our country and our world.”

Josh Kail added, “The world is a better place with Pennsylvania energy. Without commonsense energy policy, we lose. If we want to grow jobs, build, reduce emissions, protect our country and others, then we must lift the ban on natural gas exports.”
