Philadelphia Union has announced the acquisition of forward Bruno Damiani from Uruguayan Primera Division club, Nacional. The transfer involves a record-breaking fee for the club. Damiani's contract with the Union is guaranteed through 2028, with an option for 2029. The player will join the active roster after obtaining his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa.

"Bruno is the exact type of player that we have been looking to add to our striker unit," said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director, Ernst Tanner. "He is a tall, physical striker with a proven ability to dominate and be a danger in the final third. Along with his size and strength, he is a clinical finisher and is relentless on the attack. We look forward to getting him integrated quickly and seeing his impact on the pitch."

Damiani, aged 22, comes from Uruguay’s Primera División where he played for Nacional. In 2023, he appeared in 22 matches for Nacional, scoring two goals and assisting three times. He debuted on June 17, 2023, with a goal in a victory over Club Deportivo Maldonado. In 2024, Damiani was loaned to Boston River in Uruguay’s topflight league, where he scored 12 goals and provided five assists over 38 matches. His performance in the Clausura was notable as he scored nine goals in 14 games and became the league’s second-highest scorer.

Damiani's achievements include winning back-to-back Uruguayan Primera División Player of the Month awards in August/September and October of 2024. He also contributed significantly to Nacional's Supercopa Uruguaya victory on January 26, helping them secure their first title since 2021.

Internationally, Damiani received his first call-up to the Uruguayan National Team in May 2024 and made his senior debut against Costa Rica.
