Jakob Glesnes scored for Philadelphia Union in a preseason match against FC Cincinnati on Friday night in Clearwater, Florida. The Union faced a 4-1 defeat during the 120-minute game, which featured 25 players.

Head Coach Bradley Carnell's team experimented with a new lineup, including goalkeeper Andre Blake and returning starters Jakob Glesnes and Kai Wagner. Olwethu Makhanya and newcomer Frankie Westfield completed the backline. Jovan Lukic joined Danley Jean Jacques, Daniel Gazdag, and Quinn Sullivan in midfield. Mikael Uhre and Tai Baribo led the attack.

Philadelphia Union took an early lead with Glesnes scoring from a set piece after eight minutes. "Philly’s all-time leader in assists, Kai Wagner was pin perfect with a left-footed cross as he connected with Jakob Glesnes for the goal."

Despite the early advantage, FC Cincinnati responded strongly. Midfielder Pavel Bucha nearly equalized before halftime but was denied by Westfield's clearance off the line.

In the second half, changes to the Union lineup included Neil Pierre replacing Glesnes at center back. Chris Donovan replaced Baribo up front. Despite these adjustments, FC Cincinnati capitalized on opportunities to take a 2-1 lead by the 64th minute.

"FC Cincinnati got two opportunities in four minutes and were clinical to nab a 2-1 lead," as Bucha intercepted a pass leading to his goal followed by Obi Nwobodo scoring another.

The match saw further substitutions from both teams due to injuries. Ben Augee contributed to Cincinnati's fourth goal late in the game.

As part of their preseason schedule, Philadelphia Union will next face CF Montreal on February 14th at Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate before starting their regular season against Orlando City SC on February 22nd.
