The Philadelphia Eagles have made adjustments to their roster as they prepare for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. On Saturday, the team announced the signing of tight end Nick Muse to the practice squad and the release of running back Lew Nichols from the same unit.
This move reverses a decision made on Thursday when Nichols was added to the practice squad, and Muse was released. Muse, who joined the Eagles' practice squad on January 22, has not participated in any games with the team. He was initially drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2022 from South Carolina as a seventh-round pick. Over three seasons, he has appeared in 16 games primarily through practice squad elevations.
Nichols had a stint with Philadelphia during Training Camp and preseason in 2024 before rejoining the practice squad a month ago. A seventh-round pick by the Green Bay Packers from Central Michigan in 2023, Nichols joined the Eagles' practice squad during his rookie season in October and concluded that year with Philadelphia. He returned under a reserve/future contract in 2024. At Central Michigan, Nichols accumulated 3,061 rushing yards, 575 receiving yards, and scored 29 touchdowns across 32 games. In 2021, he was named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
