Since the implementation of the Prospect Promotion Incentive (PPI) under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement, four players have earned their teams additional Draft picks. The PPI encourages clubs to promote top prospects at the start of the season, offering a Draft pick if these rookies achieve a full year of service time and influence major postseason awards.

In 2022, Julio Rodríguez's American League Rookie of the Year win granted the Mariners an extra pick in the 2023 Draft. Similarly, Gunnar Henderson and Corbin Carroll's Rookie of the Year victories in 2023 secured Baltimore and Arizona extra selections for 2024. This July, Bobby Witt Jr.'s performance will earn the Royals an additional pick due to his top-three finish in AL MVP voting.

However, it's not always straightforward. The Pirates won't receive an extra pick despite Paul Skenes winning National League Rookie of the Year in 2024 because he debuted six weeks after Opening Day. Luis Gil also doesn't qualify for a Yankees' bonus pick due to excessive service time before his 2024 AL Rookie of the Year title.

Players who meet PPI eligibility as rookies but don't win major awards retain eligibility until arbitration. Not all rookies qualify; Yankees outfielder Jasson Domínguez and A's shortstop Jacob Wilson are ineligible due to accrued MLB service time beyond limits despite rookie status.

Roki Sasaki remains eligible despite being an international free agent because he signed under amateur rules subject to bonus pools. Eligibility requires appearing on two out of three Top 100 Prospect rankings by MLB Pipeline, Baseball America, or ESPN with fewer than 60 days prior MLB service.

Eighty-seven players from MLB Pipeline’s new Top 100 list are eligible for PPI in 2025, alongside ten from the rookie class of 2024 and nine from that of 2023. This results in over a hundred PPI-eligible players for next year.

The list includes notable names like Nolan Schanuel from Angels and Masyn Winn from Cardinals among others from various teams.
