Flyers Charities, in collaboration with a group of Flyers wives, has announced a partnership with Michael’s Way and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children to relaunch the Building Hope for Kids initiative. This effort will focus on renovating the home of eight-year-old Ronda Burns, who is currently battling leukemia. The aim is to create a safe and comfortable environment for Ronda and her family.
Blair Listino, President of Flyers Charities and Flyers Alternate Governor, stated, "As part of our main pillar of supporting families impacted by cancer, the Flyers organization and Flyers Charities believe that every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment to grow and thrive." He emphasized that the project is about more than just construction; it is about providing hope and comfort.
The initiative was announced during a special visit before the holidays when Flyers Charities, along with a group of Flyers wives and Michael’s Way, surprised Ronda's family. The project will involve financial support from Flyers Charities to Michael’s Way for overseeing construction teams. Meanwhile, the Flyers wives will assist with design and furnishing the home. St. Christopher’s Hospital professionals will ensure that medical needs are met.
Chris McElwee, Founder of Michael’s Way, expressed excitement about partnering again with Flyers Charities on this project: “It is always such a great feeling to see everyone come together to help a family in need.” Robin Capecci from St. Christopher's added that such collaborations reflect their mission by providing both physical change and emotional relief.
A special unveiling celebration is planned for March 2025 upon completion of the renovation. Through their ongoing partnership with Michael’s Way, the Building Hope for Kids initiative has supported eight local families so far.
