The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the release of quarterback Ian Book. This decision comes after Book was signed to the practice squad on December 26, following injuries to quarterbacks Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett. Two days later, he was promoted to the active roster but did not participate in the final two regular-season games.
Ian Book, originally a fourth-round draft pick by the New Orleans Saints in 2021, joined the Eagles at the end of the 2022 preseason. He remained on their active roster throughout that season but did not play despite dressing for two games. In 2023, he failed to secure a spot on the roster after Training Camp and briefly joined the New England Patriots' practice squad before spending time with the Kansas City Chiefs during their offseason.
During his college tenure at Notre Dame, Book became known as the school's all-time winningest quarterback with a record of 30-5. He served as a two-time captain and led Notre Dame to two College Football Playoff appearances.
