The Philadelphia Eagles conducted a walkthrough on New Year's Day in preparation for their final regular-season game against the New York Giants. The injury report released on Wednesday is an estimation, as noted by Head Coach Nick Sirianni, who stated that starters would rest during Week 18 due to the Eagles securing the No. 2 seed.
"We're going to rest some guys," said Sirianni. "There are going to be some guys that are resting. There are going to be some guys that are in reserve roles."
Quarterback Jalen Hurts remains in concussion protocol following an injury sustained in Week 16 against Washington and did not participate in Sunday's game against Dallas. "He's still in there," said Sirianni regarding Hurts' status.
Tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) was expected to practice fully as he approaches his return from injured reserve, with his 21-day practice window now open. Backup tight end C.J. Uzomah was placed on injured reserve Wednesday evening.
Had a full practice occurred, several starters, including Saquon Barkley and Lane Johnson, would have been given a rest day. Linebacker Nakobe Dean (abdomen) was anticipated to participate fully, while quarterback Kenny Pickett (ribs) would not have practiced after leaving Sunday's game early.
Defensive end Bryce Huff (wrist), who recently returned from injured reserve, was expected to be a full participant after playing limited snaps last Sunday. Running back Will Shipley (concussion) was projected as a limited participant.
Wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were among those listed as not practicing due to knee and wrist issues combined with rest.
