The Philadelphia Eagles have placed tight end C.J. Uzomah on Injured Reserve, as confirmed by the team on Wednesday. This move comes as Dallas Goedert nears a return to action.
Uzomah, a 10-year NFL veteran, participated in seven games this season with the Eagles, starting three of them. He contributed to the offense with 132 snaps, accounting for 12% of offensive plays.
Uzomah began his NFL career after being drafted in the fifth round by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2015 out of Auburn University. He spent seven seasons with Cincinnati before joining the New York Jets for two years. His standout season was in 2021 when he recorded 49 receptions for 491 yards and five touchdowns while playing for Cincinnati. Over his career, Uzomah has amassed 192 receptions totaling 1,881 yards and scored 16 touchdowns across 118 games (including playoffs), with 89 starts.
Following Uzomah's placement on Injured Reserve, Grant Calcaterra and E.J. Jenkins remain active on the Eagles' roster as tight ends. The team may consider using this opportunity to activate Dallas Goedert from Injured Reserve if he is ready to return.
