In September, Damon Brockington was recognized as the Eagles Coach of the Week for his contributions both on and off the field at Frankford High School. On December 19, he was honored as the Eagles' 2024 High School Coach of the Year during a surprise event at Frankford High School. Former Eagles wide receiver Fred Barnett and SWOOP were present for the occasion.

Brendan Clark, Eagles Community Relations and Youth Football Coordinator, remarked on Brockington's impact: "Over the past 14 years, Coach Brockington's dedication to high school football has greatly impacted the lives of his players, their families, and the Philadelphia community. His ongoing commitment as a coach and role model has helped establish a culture at Frankford High School that is setting his student-athletes up for success, both on the football field and beyond."

Brockington will now compete for the Don Shula NFL High School Coach of the Year award. Reflecting on his recognition, he stated: "It means everything. Growing up watching the Eagles and just being a part of this program... it feels good just to be a part of the Eagles and winning the Coach of the Year, I feel grateful." He expressed gratitude towards his team: "I had down years, and I'm glad for the kids that won it with me. It was a positive year and it wasn't for me; it was for them."

A Frankford alum from 2006, Brockington returned to serve as a teacher and Dean of 11th grade while coaching football. In his four-year tenure as head coach, he led Frankford to an undefeated season in his first year and recently achieved a 9-3 overall record (5-0 in conference), winning their first 5A Philadelphia Public League Championship since 2013.

Brockington values community involvement beyond sports: "Whatever you describe as brotherhood... I got the majority of people who I played with to come back and coach with me." He actively mentors youth by integrating younger athletes with high school players.

Frankford High School will receive a $1,500 equipment voucher from the Eagles alongside Brockington's $1,000 personal award from the NFL. The coach emphasized using these resources positively: "The resources... today isn't for me. It's for the kids."

Coach Brockington will be honored along with other Coaches of the Week during an upcoming game against Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.

"Frankford is a homegrown name," said Brockington. "I'm just trying to keep... once a Pioneer always a Pioneer."
