The Philadelphia Eagles faced a narrow defeat against the Washington Commanders, losing 36-33 in a closely contested game at Northwest Stadium. The Eagles' quarterback Jalen Hurts was sidelined early due to a concussion, leading Kenny Pickett to step in. Washington clinched the victory with a last-minute score.
"I'm focused on the outcome, you know, it's hard to look at that right now, just sitting here, just frustrated. Really wanted to get that one for our team, So, we have to be able to learn from it," said Pickett post-game. He emphasized the importance of taking advantage of playing opportunities and building trust with his teammates.
The game started with Saquon Barkley scoring a touchdown for the Eagles. However, an interception by Frankie Luvu shifted momentum towards Washington. Jayden Daniels connected with Jamison Crowder for a touchdown to put Washington on the scoreboard.
Barkley later scored again with a significant 68-yard run, setting a new single-season rushing record for the Eagles. "Everything moves through them... I also want to give a shoutout to the tight ends, to wide receivers," Barkley commented on his performance.
A.J. Brown surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the season during this match and praised his teamwork with Pickett: "I'm talking to all the quarterbacks... just trying to get an understanding of how they may see it."
Washington's Jayden Daniels threw five touchdowns throughout the game and led in rushing yards as well. The decisive moment came when Daniels found Crowder for another touchdown in the final seconds of play.
Defensive plays were notable on both sides; Darius Slay highlighted teamwork as key: "Just trusting myself and trusting what I know... Without those guys, I wouldn't be too much."
Key statistics included Pickett completing 14 out of 24 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown while Daniels completed 24 out of 39 passes for 258 yards and five touchdowns.
