Mekhi Becton, a former first-round draft pick by the New York Jets, has found new success with the Philadelphia Eagles after signing with the team in April. Originally drafted as a tackle, Becton has transitioned to playing guard under the guidance of Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach Jeff Stoutland.
Since joining the Eagles, Becton has started every game this season and is currently ranked 16th among guards in the league according to Pro Football Focus. The Highland Springs, Virginia native shared insights into his personal life and career in an interview with PhiladelphiaEagles.com.
Discussing his hobbies, Becton mentioned his interest in painting and cooking. "I would say my painting came from my childhood," he said. "And then cooking, that's another thing that makes me happy. I got my cooking from my mom (Semone)."
When asked about his favorite meals to prepare, Becton responded, "Either risotto or Marry Me Chicken."
Reflecting on his athletic abilities during high school, Becton recalled being able to dunk a basketball starting in eighth grade. He also discussed the challenges of transitioning from tackle to guard. "The hardest transition is just things just happen a lot faster," he noted.
Becton named Myles Garrett as the toughest opponent he faced as a tackle and Vita Vea as the most challenging when playing guard.
Regarding his move from New York to Philadelphia, Becton expressed appreciation for the fans: "It's been dope. These fans, they're very passionate."
