Philadelphia Union has announced the acquisition of center back Ian Glavinovich from Newell’s Old Boys. The deal is a one-year loan with an option for a permanent transfer. Glavinovich will join the team's active roster once he receives his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa, occupying an international roster slot.

"Ian is a robust, fast, center back whose skillset matches what we are looking for in that position," stated Philadelphia Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner. "He is defensively sound and has a lot of quality on the ball. With room for development, I believe he can make an immediate impact on our backline, and we look forward to welcoming him to the club."

The 23-year-old defender has been part of CA Newell’s since 2022, playing in Argentina's top division. During his tenure, he made 30 appearances and recorded one assist. His participation included 19 matches in Copa de la Liga competitions over two years, eight appearances in Copa Sudamericana, and one appearance in Copa Argentina.

In addition to his club experience, Glavinovich represented Argentina on the U23 national team in 2023 and played in two international friendly matches.

The transaction details confirm that Philadelphia Union acquired Ian Glavinovich on December 20, 2024. He will be integrated into the team upon completion of necessary documentation.
