The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Jacob Gaucher to a two-year entry-level contract, as announced by General Manager Daniel Brière. Gaucher, who is 23 years old and undrafted, was previously on an American Hockey League (AHL) contract. He is currently in his second season with the Phantoms.
This season, Gaucher has played in 23 games, scoring 10 goals and earning 15 points, making him fourth on the team in points. He also shares the lead for most power play goals on the team with three. Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 200 pounds, Gaucher made his professional hockey debut with the Reading Royals of the ECHL during the 2022-23 season. In that season, he recorded 61 points (22 goals and 39 assists) over 71 games before spending most of his time in Lehigh Valley during the following season.
Last year, Gaucher accumulated 16 points (8 goals and 8 assists) across 59 games with Lehigh Valley. During the Calder Cup playoffs in 2024, he scored an overtime goal that advanced his team to the second round and provided an additional assist.
Originally from Longueuil, Quebec, Gaucher played junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He spent three seasons with Val-d’Or Foreurs as an alternate captain before being traded to Baie-Comeau Drakkar where he served as captain for his final season. Over four seasons in junior hockey, he participated in 242 games and achieved a total of 141 points from scoring 65 goals and providing 76 assists.
