The Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for their upcoming game on Sunday, with both teams managing several player injuries. The Eagles held a walkthrough practice on Wednesday, offering an estimated injury report.
Reed Blankenship, the Eagles' safety who missed last Sunday's game due to a concussion, was expected to be a limited participant in practice. Wide receiver and punt returner Britain Covey, recovering from a neck injury, also fell into the limited participation category. "It feels great to be back," Blankenship shared about his recovery process. He acknowledged the challenge of facing the Steelers but expressed excitement for the game.
Sydney Brown, another Eagles safety dealing with a knee injury, would not have practiced if it had been a full session. Meanwhile, quarterback Jalen Hurts and linebacker Nakobe Dean were anticipated to fully participate despite their respective injuries.
Hurts commented on the upcoming matchup against the Steelers: "It'll be a battle... we just have to be ready."
The complete list of players who did not participate included Mekhi Becton, A.J. Brown, Landon Dickerson, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Lane Johnson, Darius Slay, and Josh Sweat due to rest or personal reasons.
On the Steelers' side, head coach Mike Tomlin reported that wide receiver George Pickens is doubtful for Sunday's game because of a hamstring injury. Pickens missed last week's game against the Browns after initial optimism about his condition. "We made the prudent decision in terms of shutting him down," Tomlin explained regarding Pickens' absence.
Tomlin highlighted Mike Williams as someone to watch in Pickens' potential absence: "Keep watching... before his presence gets felt in a more consistent way in stadium."
Other notable absences from Steelers practice included cornerback DeShon Elliot and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi due to injuries sustained in recent games.
