Early predictions released for 2025 MLB draft

The 2025 MLB Draft is still months away, but it has already captured attention with the release of MLB Pipeline's initial Draft Top 100 and the recent Draft Lottery at the Winter Meetings. The Washington Nationals secured the No. 1 overall pick, prompting early projections for the first round.

MLB Pipeline highlights high school infielders as a significant strength in this year's draft class. Ethan Holliday, a standout player from Stillwater High School in Oklahoma, is projected to be selected first by the Nationals. "The most famous player in this Draft," Holliday bears a resemblance to his father, seven-time All-Star Matt Holliday, and may possess even greater power.

Jace LaViolette from Texas A&M is expected to go second to the Angels. His combination of size, athleticism, and right-field skills makes him a strong contender for top selection consideration.

Tyler Bremner from UC Santa Barbara could be picked third by the Mariners due to his impressive changeup and command on the mound. Meanwhile, Jamie Arnold from Florida State might edge out Bremner as he brings more starting success experience.

Other notable prospects include Brendan Summerhill of Arizona and Kayson Cunningham from Johnson High School in San Antonio. Cunningham is praised as possibly "the best pure hitter" among prep players this year.

As anticipation builds for the draft next summer, MLB fans are encouraged to stay informed through daily updates on Major League Baseball's latest trends.
