Philadelphia Union Academy's U-16 team began their MLS NEXT Fest campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over FC Dallas. The match took place on the west coast, where the Philadelphia squad also faces Minnesota United and the Columbus Crew.
The game started positively for Philadelphia, as Willyam Ferreira scored from a penalty kick to open the scoring. Malik Jakupovic, the team's leading scorer, added two more goals in the first half. His first goal came in the 18th minute after he broke away from defenders and found the net. He scored again in the 40th minute by capitalizing on a rebound opportunity following a shot that was cleared off the line.
In the second half, Dylan Luebbert extended Philadelphia's lead with a goal from a corner kick delivered by Samuel Gallego.
