Saquon Barkley, a running back for the Philadelphia Eagles, has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. This recognition follows his standout performance against the Rams, where he set new franchise records with 255 rushing yards and 302 yards from scrimmage in a 37-20 victory.
Barkley's achievement marks a significant milestone for the Eagles, as no player from the team had previously won more than three Player of the Week awards in a single season. The previous record was held by DeSean Jackson (2009), Darren Sproles (2014), and Jake Elliott (2023).
This accolade brings Barkley within one award of tying the NFL all-time record for most Offensive Player of the Week wins in a single season. This record is currently shared by quarterbacks Tom Brady (2007), Cam Newton (2015), and Lamar Jackson (2019).
During his historic game, Barkley's 255 rushing yards surpassed LeSean McCoy's previous Eagles record of 217 yards set during the 2013 Snow Bowl win over Detroit. Additionally, his total rushing yards ranked ninth-highest in NFL history for a single game. His 302 yards from scrimmage also broke Duce Staley's franchise record set in 2000.
Barkley became only the fourth running back in the Super Bowl era to exceed 300 scrimmage yards in one game. He leads the NFL with five games featuring at least 140 rushing yards and one touchdown this season, matching an NFL historical record through a player's first eleven games.
Against the Rams, Barkley recorded 162 rushing yards after contact—a career high and a league best for this year according to NFL Next Gen Stats. These post-contact yards alone would rank as fifth-most in any single game this season.
Over his last two games, Barkley amassed 500 scrimmage yards. Only Walter Payton has exceeded this figure over two consecutive games during Weeks 10-11 and Weeks 9-10 of the 1977 season.
Entering Week 13, Barkley leads the league with both his rushing yard total of 1,392 and his scrimmage yard total of 1,649. He joins an elite group as just the eighth player since 1950 to achieve over 1,350 rushing yards along with ten or more touchdowns within their team's first eleven games—a feat last accomplished in 1998.
