The National Football League's My Cause My Cleats campaign is in its ninth season, providing players with a platform to highlight causes they support through custom-designed cleats. The Philadelphia Eagles will participate by wearing their personalized cleats on December 1 in Baltimore and then at Lincoln Financial Field on December 8. During the latter event, coaches and staff will wear sneakers inspired by the Eagles Autism Foundation to promote autism awareness.
"My Cause My Cleats is an opportunity for NFL players to call attention to the important work being done by the charitable organizations they support," stated Lane Johnson, Eagles All-Pro right tackle. "We are lucky to have great leaders around the league, especially here in Philadelphia starting with Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie (Chairman and CEO of the Eagles), who have given us a platform to help raise awareness for the issues we are passionate about off the field. I am proud to join my teammates and the NFL family as we look to shine a light on the many causes around the world that need our support."
Eagles players will bring attention to various causes such as autism, cancer prevention, mental health, and youth development this year.
For eight years running, the team's philanthropic arm has raised over $30 million for autism research and care programs. This will be showcased on Nike sneakers featuring a unique Eagles Autism Foundation color scheme worn by coaches, trainers, ownership, and staff during Week 14.
Images of these cleats along with their stories will be shared online using #MyCauseMyCleats. Additionally, game-used cleats will be auctioned at NFL Auction with all proceeds going to charities chosen by players.
