The Philadelphia Eagles have announced the acquisition of defensive end Charles Harris, claimed off waivers after being released by the Carolina Panthers. Harris, a former first-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2017, played nine games for the Panthers this season and was tied for the team lead in sacks with three. His performance also included 21 tackles and seven quarterback hits.
Harris brings experience to the Eagles' defensive line, having played 99 career games across stints with the Dolphins, Lions, Falcons, and Panthers. The Kansas City native has accumulated 177 tackles, 19.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles during his professional career.
To accommodate Harris on their roster, the Eagles placed veteran defensive end Brandon Graham on Injured Reserve following a triceps injury sustained in their recent victory over the Rams. Head Coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that Graham will miss the remainder of the season.
"I don't want to go out like this," Graham stated regarding his injury. Despite this setback, he expressed contentment with his career achievements if unable to return next season.
Graham holds franchise records as the Eagles' all-time leader in games played (206) and ranks third in sacks (76.5). "His leadership is very special," Sirianni remarked about Graham's influence on and off the field.
Additionally, KJ Henry has been signed to bolster depth on the practice squad amid injuries to Graham and Bryce Huff. Henry was drafted by Washington in 2023 and has spent time with both Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad and Dallas Cowboys' active roster.
To make room for Henry, defensive tackle Siaki Ika and wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint were released from the practice squad.
