Head Coach Nick Sirianni has confirmed that defensive end Brandon Graham will miss the remainder of the season due to a triceps tear. This announcement was made during a press conference on Tuesday.
Sirianni praised Graham, saying, "Can't say enough good things about BG. I think you guys have asked me this a couple of times, just everybody in every workplace needs a Brandon Graham. His energy is contagious. If you're having a bad day, and you get around him, he can turn your day positive. Obviously, the player speaks for itself and the play on the field. He's having a great year, just can't say enough about him as a leader, as a captain, as a teammate."
Despite the injury setback, Sirianni emphasized Graham's continued role within the team: "His leadership is very special. BG is going to be around and he's going to be still leading. I know that man can lead when he's on the field when he's off the field no matter what, and I'm excited that we still have his leadership and everything that he feeds this football team."
Graham sustained his injury during Sunday's 37-20 victory against the Rams in Los Angeles but remained optimistic about his future contributions to the team. "We pour everything we can into this game," said Graham after the game. "When I say I trust God, I trust God. I'm about to enjoy this little rehab and then I'm about to enjoy leading this team the rest of the year."
In his 15th season with the franchise, Graham has recorded 20 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and six tackles for loss (TFLs). Before his injury in Sunday's game against the Rams, he was rated by Pro Football Focus as their highest-rated player.
Right tackle Lane Johnson expressed sympathy for Graham's situation: "I'm devastated for him because he's probably one of the best leaders I've been around... A guy that his story just screams perseverance and resiliency with everything he's overcome."
Graham leads in games played for the Eagles with 206 appearances and ranks third all-time in sacks with 76.5.
While uncertain about his future playing prospects, Graham remains focused on his leadership role: "I don't want to go out like this... All I know is they're not done with me yet."
The NovaCare Complex recognizes Graham's influence even while sidelined. Defensive tackle Jordan Davis noted Graham's significance: "He's been here for years... When you have a guy like him go down... it just doesn't feel the same when he's not on the field with you."
Graham affirmed his commitment to supporting teammates from off-field positions: "I know the guys still need me as far as just making sure I'm watching them... The mission is still the mission..."
The veteran hopes to see success for his team despite being unable to contribute on-field directly.
