Denver Barkey, a left-wing player for the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), has shown significant improvement following an early-season setback due to mononucleosis. The illness affected his participation in Rookie Camp and NHL camp, leading to a slow start with only two points in the first six games. However, Barkey has regained form, posting at least one point in seven of his last nine games, including multiple multi-point performances. Currently, he has accumulated 17 points over 15 games.
Noah Powell, a freshman at Ohio State University playing for the Buckeyes in NCAA hockey, scored his first collegiate goal during a recent game against Lindenwood. Last season, while playing for the Dubuque Fighting Saints in the USHL, Powell led with 43 goals and ranked fifth in total points. His production is expected to increase as he continues his college career.
Alex Bump from Western Michigan University has been performing well this season with eight points across eight games. Recently assisting on a crucial goal against Colorado College, Bump's team holds a strong record of 6-1-1.
Updates from last week's standout players include Jett Luchanko from Guelph Storm in OHL who achieved significant scores over four games; Yegor Zavragin from SKA St. Petersburg in KHL who recorded another shutout; and Samu Tuomaala from Phantoms in AHL who maintained an active five-game point streak.
