Euddy Izquierdo, a 42-year-old resident of Philadelphia, has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearm possession. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Juan R. Sánchez and includes an additional 10 years of supervised release.
Izquierdo's arrest on January 10, 2022, followed a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) operation that uncovered a substantial quantity of drugs at a residence on Sanger Street in Philadelphia. Izquierdo admitted to using the property for storing and packaging narcotics intended for sale in Kensington.
DEA agents found significant amounts of various drugs including para-flourofentanyl, fentanyl, heroin, crack cocaine, cocaine, and xylazine—a veterinary sedative often used as a cutting agent. A loaded 9mm pistol was also recovered from the location.
At the time of his arrest, Izquierdo was under federal supervision due to a prior drug trafficking conviction from 2015. His legal status prohibited him from possessing firearms under federal law.
In June 2024, following a two-day trial, Izquierdo was convicted by a jury on multiple charges related to drug distribution and illegal firearm possession.
"Euddy Izquierdo was like a one-stop shop for narcotics," said U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero. "Heroin, crack, fentanyl, powder cocaine — he pushed all of it into Kensington."
Thomas Hodnett from the DEA’s Philadelphia Field Division commented on the severity of Izquierdo's sentence: "Izquierdo received a severe sentence in federal prison for the distribution of dangerous drugs such as fentanyl."
The case is part of efforts by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) program and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Justin Ashenfelter.
