The Philadelphia Flyers have completed a trade with the Edmonton Oilers, acquiring defenseman Ben Gleason in exchange for defenseman Ronnie Attard. This transaction was confirmed by Flyers General Manager Daniel Briere.
Ben Gleason, 26, has participated in seven games this season for the Bakersfield Condors, the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. The Ortonville, Michigan native stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 190 pounds. He has accumulated four points (one goal and three assists) during these games. Among defensemen on his team, he ranks second in points and is tied for fifth overall. Additionally, he is tied for third in shots on net with a total of 15.
Gleason initially signed with the Dallas Stars as a free agent in 2018. He played four NHL games for Dallas in November of that year, marking his only NHL point during his debut on November 10, 2018. Over five seasons with the Texas Stars, Dallas' affiliate team, he developed his skills before joining the Edmonton Oilers as a free agent in July 2023. Across seven seasons with both Texas and Bakersfield from 2018 to 2024, Gleason has appeared in 359 AHL games and scored a total of 177 points (40 goals and 137 assists), including eight power-play goals and five game-winning goals.
Ronnie Attard, aged 25, was selected by the Flyers in the third round (72nd overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft. During his time with the Flyers from 2021 to 2024, Attard collected six points (two goals and four assists) over the course of 29 NHL games across three seasons. In two seasons with Lehigh Valley from 2022 to 2024, he tallied a total of 59 points (22 goals and 37 assists) over 123 career AHL contests.
