Wide receiver John Ross is attempting a return to the NFL, drawing inspiration from his son Kyrie. After receiving an invitation to attend the Eagles' Rookie Minicamp following the 2024 NFL Draft as a tryout player, Ross expressed excitement about the opportunity. "I knew that I had to hit the ground running," he said. Reflecting on his career, Ross acknowledged past challenges, including injuries and inconsistencies that led to his retirement after six years in the league.

Ross's decision to return came seven months after stepping away from football. Initially with the Kansas City Chiefs, he was waived but found an opportunity with Philadelphia. His performance at the post-Draft camp earned him a spot on the 90-man roster.

Grateful for this chance, Ross said, "I've been through so much and just the fact that I'm here, I'm grateful." He explained how coaching his son's team kept him connected to football during his hiatus. "I feel like this is my environment," he added.

While not guaranteed a position on the 53-man roster, Ross remains optimistic about his future with the Eagles. The team's interest arose after veteran DeVante Parker's retirement opened up a slot in their wide receiver lineup.

Approaching this journey day-by-day, Ross shared insights into his mindset: "I'm not getting ahead of myself at all." He hopes to use his experiences to guide younger players and acknowledges how personal growth has influenced him.

Reflecting on time spent with his son Kyrie, Ross said it brought clarity and motivation: "I got to see my son every single day and I think that changed my life." He credits Kyrie with helping him overcome difficult times and remains thankful for this renewed perspective.

As John Ross aims for a successful comeback with Philadelphia, he continues striving towards achieving greater success in the NFL than before.
