The Philadelphia Eagles secured a narrow 15-12 victory against the New Orleans Saints in an away game. The win came after the Eagles' previous loss to the Falcons, marking a significant turnaround for the team. Dallas Goedert was instrumental in the victory, achieving 10 catches for 170 yards, which is the most by an Eagles tight end since Pete Retzlaff's record in 1965.
The Eagles' defense also had a strong performance, putting pressure on Derek Carr and sealing the game with Reed Blankenship's interception. Saquon Barkley commented on the team's resilience: "We just kept trusting the process and kept working... It matters what happens in that locker room."
Head coach Nick Sirianni praised his team's effort: "That's a hard place to play and a hard place to win... To come in here and get a win like that is special." However, injuries affected several players during the game, including Lane Johnson with a concussion and DeVonta Smith with another concussion.
In the first quarter, the Saints took an early lead with a field goal after an eight-minute drive. The Eagles struggled initially but gained momentum when Jalen Hurts connected with Goedert for a significant gain. Despite this, Hurts faced challenges, including two turnovers before halftime.
In the second half, both teams continued to battle defensively. Barkley scored a crucial 65-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give Philadelphia its first points of the day. After trading scores with New Orleans, Barkley added another touchdown late in the game to secure the win.
Key performances included Jalen Hurts completing 29 of 38 passes for 311 yards and Saquon Barkley's rushing total of 147 yards on 17 carries. For New Orleans, Derek Carr threw for 142 yards and Chris Olave made six catches for 86 yards.
Philadelphia's defense limited New Orleans to just over 200 total offensive yards. Sirianni acknowledged their determination: "All you can do is control yourself... they went out there and they worked their butts off."
