Philadelphia Union II is preparing to compete against North Texas SC in the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Cup, scheduled for Saturday evening at 8:30 PM ET. The match will be broadcast on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV.
Union II has had a notable season, having reached the playoffs in each of the last two years in MLS NEXT Pro but still seeking their first postseason victory until now. Under the guidance of Marlon LeBlanc, the team secured a 1-0 win over New York City FC II in their inaugural home playoff game. Following this success, they paid tribute to teammate Holden Trent by defeating Crown Legacy FC in a penalty shootout, which advanced them to the upcoming final where they will compete for both a trophy and entry into the MLS NEXT Pro Cup.
In the conference final, Union II displayed strong performance against Columbus Crew 2, who were two-time defending conference champions. Markus Anderson contributed significantly with two goals, while Union II's defense restricted Columbus Crew 2 to only one shot.
