Clint Hurtt, the senior defensive assistant and defensive line coach, is focused on developing his young defensive tackles. Milton Williams, at 25 years old, is considered the veteran among them as he enters his fourth season. Alongside him are former first-round picks Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter.

Hurtt shared his excitement about the potential of these players: "Making strides and it's a work in progress," he said. He praised Carter's growth and maturity, describing it as a pleasure to coach him. Regarding Davis, Hurtt noted his physical attributes and emphasized the importance of being in great shape.

Hurtt acknowledged that replacing former Eagle Fletcher Cox, who retired after the 2023 season, is challenging but expressed confidence in Davis and Carter's leadership abilities: "You don't replace a guy like Fletcher Cox... but they're doing their very best to step out into the forefront."

Williams has also shown significant development since being drafted by the Eagles in 2021. Last season, he achieved career highs with 42 total tackles, 24 quarterback pressures, and seven quarterback hits over 494 snaps. Hurtt commended Williams' work ethic: "Milton has been unbelievable... I think he has a very bright future in front of him."

The three players are expected to handle most of the defensive tackle snaps this season. Their versatility will be crucial as they adapt to Vic Fangio's strategies on defense.

Davis aims for personal improvement this year: "My goal... is to improve," he stated while highlighting his commitment to fitness. Carter also has high aspirations following an impressive rookie season where he earned All-Rookie Team honors from the Pro Football Writers Association.

Carter reflected on last year's performance: "Last year was OK... I'm ready to be better than last year." With experienced coaching from Hurtt and promising talent on hand, there is optimism for growth along Philadelphia's defensive line.
