Ahead of their mandatory minicamp, the Philadelphia Eagles have signed Max Scharping. The move aims to bolster the team's depth with a player who brings playoff experience and versatility in playing both guard positions.

Scharping was initially selected in the second round by the Houston Texans during the 2019 NFL Draft after playing college football at Northern Illinois. He spent his first three seasons with Houston before being picked up off waivers by the Cincinnati Bengals before the 2022 season. Scharping continued with Cincinnati through 2023.

In his two seasons with the Bengals, Scharping appeared in 34 games, including playoff appearances. Notably, he started at right guard for all three of Cincinnati's playoff games leading to their AFC Championship Game appearance in 2022 after an injury sidelined Alex Cappa in Week 18.

Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 325 pounds, Scharping will turn 28 this August. Over his career, he has played in a total of 79 regular-season games and made 33 starts primarily as a left guard during his time with Houston.

Beyond football, Scharping is known for his philanthropic efforts alongside his wife Cassidy. Together they founded a nonprofit organization named Stay Scharp Rescue Foundation which has successfully rescued over 100 dogs.
