The Eagles have placed wide receiver DeVante Parker on the Reserve/Retired list. Parker, a veteran in the league, shared with ESPN's Adam Schefter that his decision to retire stems from a desire to spend more time with his family.
Parker began his career as a first-round draft pick for the Dolphins in 2015. Over nine seasons, he recorded 402 receptions, amassing 5,660 yards and scoring 27 touchdowns. He joined the Eagles seeking an opportunity to play for a consistent playoff team but only participated in one postseason game—a loss against the Steelers during his second season with Miami.
At 31 years old, Parker was anticipated to compete for the third wide receiver spot behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. His physical attributes—standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 215 pounds—were expected to provide size and depth to the team.
With Parker's departure, the Eagles' roster includes ten wide receivers. The team also acquired veteran Parris Campbell through free agency and drafted two receivers, Ainias Smith and Johnny Wilson, during this year's NFL Draft.
