The Eagles have officially signed running back Will Shipley to a four-year rookie contract. The team selected Shipley in the fourth round of the draft, following a trade that saw them move back four spots and acquire a 2025 fifth-round pick.

Shipley's college career has been marked by impressive achievements. In 2023, he became the first Power 5 player since Christian McCaffrey to achieve over 2,500 rushing yards, 500 receiving yards, and 900 kickoff return yards within three seasons. Head Coach Nick Sirianni expressed enthusiasm about Shipley's potential impact on the team. "We're really excited about Will," Sirianni stated. He highlighted Shipley's versatility and ability to perform in various roles on the field.

In addition to his on-field skills, Shipley is recognized for his speed. Only seven running backs drafted since 2015 have recorded a faster short-shuttle time than his recent 4.10 seconds.

Shipley's versatility was further acknowledged when he was named a finalist for the Paul Hornung Award in 2022. That same year, he achieved another milestone as the first Power 5 player since Saquon Barkley in 2017 to surpass specific thresholds in rushing, receiving, and kickoff return yards within a single season.

Shipley also has family ties to Philadelphia through his brother James, who plays lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania. This connection adds personal significance to his joining the Eagles. "When the Eagles called or when the call came from Philadelphia, I could not have been more ecstatic," said Shipley. He expressed fondness for Philadelphia and its suitability for him and his family.
