The journey to the NFL is filled with challenges and sacrifices, not only for the players but also for their families. As Mother's Day approached, several Philadelphia Eagles rookies took the opportunity to reflect on the pivotal role their mothers played in their lives and careers.
Trevor Keegan shared his deep connection with his mother, Amanda. "I love her to death; I'll do anything for her, and she knows that," he said. Amanda was a constant presence at Trevor's games during his time at the University of Michigan. She instilled in him resilience and taught him to face adversity head-on.
Jalyx Hunt recounted how his mother, Jaaqua, was instrumental in shaping who he is today. "For her, it's really just seeing her son achieve something he's put so much work into," Jalyx expressed. Jaaqua, a teacher in Florida, rarely missed one of his games and always offered support and guidance.
Will Shipley credited his mother Tammy for being a positive influence throughout his life. "My mom means everything to me," Will stated. Tammy supported Will's athletic pursuits from an early age and helped create a workout space called the "Shred Shed" where he trained with his brother.
Cooper DeJean highlighted the impact of his mother Katie's support on his sports career. "She's been amazing in my life," Cooper said about Katie's encouragement during his high school years as a multi-sport athlete. Her unwavering support continued through Cooper's journey to the NFL.
Ainias Smith described his mother Samyra as strong and supportive throughout his football career. After being drafted by the Eagles, Ainias shared an emotional moment with Samyra: "Mom, we did it; you have nothing to worry about anymore."
