The Philadelphia Eagles have selected cornerback Quinyon Mitchell with the 22nd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The announcement was made following the first round of selections.

Mitchell expressed his enthusiasm for joining the Eagles, stating, "I feel like, right now, I'm with the right fit. I'm with the right organization, with the right players, right city, so I feel good about this draft pick right here."

Eagles Executive Vice President and General Manager Howie Roseman also shared his excitement about adding Mitchell to the team. "Excited to get Quinyon Mitchell to Philadelphia," he said. "Based on the player, based on the totality of the circumstance with the player, his talent, his character, and his position, we felt like it was the right pick for us."

Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 195 pounds, Mitchell is notable as he becomes the first cornerback selected by Philadelphia since Lito Sheppard in 2002. He was also this year's first corner taken off the board during this draft season.

Mitchell hails from Williston, Florida and spent four years playing college football at Toledo. Throughout his college career, he played in 46 games and started in 40 of them. His statistics include six interceptions—two of which were returned for touchdowns—122 tackles, 46 passes defended and 6.5 tackles for loss.

During his time at Toledo in 2022 alone, Mitchell led all FBS players with 25 passes defended and set a program record for most passes defended overall. In a game against Northern Illinois that year (October 8), he became notable as an FBS player who achieved four-plus interceptions along with two-plus interception returns for touchdowns in one match since at least 2000.

In addition to team achievements such as winning both MAC Championship (2022) & Boca Raton Bowl (2022), Mitchell received individual accolades including being named Second-Team Associated Press All-American (2023), twice First-Team All-MAC (2022-23) as well as Third-Team Associated Press All-American (2022).

Head Coach Nick Sirianni had previously formed connections through working alongside Jason Candle - former coach from Mount Union where they both coached together - which provided insight into assessing Mitchell’s character beyond just performance capabilities.
