On April 25, 2012, Philadelphia Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman and the team's NFL Draft decision-makers were strategizing for the upcoming draft. The team had negotiated with the Seattle Seahawks to move from the 15th to the 12th pick in Round 1 if a favored player was still available. That player was Fletcher Cox.

"Everyone agreed that to get a 6-foot-4, 310-pound guy, 35-inch arms, powerful, athletic, great character, we'd have to pick in the top five," Roseman stated. He considered it a unique opportunity when they managed to select Cox.

Cox recently announced his retirement at a press conference held at NovaCare Complex. Surrounded by family and friends, he expressed gratitude as he bid farewell after a notable career spanning twelve years. His achievements include six Pro Bowls and four All-Pro selections.

Cox's success is attributed not only to personal talent but also support from teammates and coaches who helped maximize his potential despite challenges such as facing double teams frequently. "I feel great and this is exactly how I wanted it to end with all of my people around me," said Cox post-retirement announcement.
